Project Description

Malachy Walsh and Partners have been commissioned by Ardmore Construction Limited as the Civil, Geotechnical, Structural and Temporary Works Consultants on the Design and Build contract of the Battersea Phase 4a development for the Peabody Trust. The project consists of the Construction of 386 affordable homes, a primary Health Care Centre and ground floor retail and Starter Units. The main block consists of 5 towers varying in height from 9 to 18 floors with the remaining two blocks consisting of a single tower each of 9 and 10 floors high.
The structure will consist of a reinforced concrete frame with flat slabs on piled foundations.
The site includes a main trunk sewer which is to be bridged over to allow the sewer to be repaired/replaced if required in the future.

Role of MWP:

MWP are responsible for all Civil, Structural and Geotechnical design on the project. MWP lead the liaison with Network Rail and Thames Water London Underground to achieve approval for the proposed building due to its location over underground tunnels. The structural design for the project was carried out using SCIA Engineer which enabled the client to visualise the frame though it various stages.
